Why is the Land of Utmost Bliss in the West?
According to the sutras, there are innumerable Buddhas in the ten directions of the universe. The reason why Shakyamuni Buddha introduced Amitabha Buddha's Pure Land to us is that with the power of Amitabha Buddha's vows people who have firm faith in the Pure Land can be reborn there, where there are no obstacles for one's practice of the Buddha path and therefore one can achieve Buddhahood quickly and then return to this Saha World or go to other worlds to liberate sentient beings.
