Welcome to Meditation Forum: The Development of Chan Buddhism in Contemporary Era & International Conference on Buddhism and Social Science

To honor the 10th anniversary of late Master Sheng Yen’s passing, “International Conference on Buddhism and Social Science”, June 29 - 30, will be jointly held by National Taipei University, Dharma Drum Institute of Liberal Arts, and Sheng Yen Education Foundation, according to DDM. Through communication between Spiritual Environmentalism and economics, public governance and management, finance, accounting & business administration, and sociology, this conference aims to continue Master Sheng Yen’s dedication in propagating the Dharma in context of interdisciplinary dialogues. Keynote speech will be delivered in each session. With nearly 50 papers to be presented and over one hundred scholars attending, this conference is highly anticipated.

On June 28, one day prior to the conference, 9 dharma heirs of late Master Sheng Yen from around the world would first come together, an occasion that is already drawing great attention. In the morning, two panel discussions will be held, focusing on the development and propagation of Chinese Chan Buddhism and its adaptation in contemporary era.

Later in the afternoon, many guided Chan practice sessions will be available at various locations in DDM World Center for Buddhist Education. Translation service will be provided throughout the day. It would be a chance of a lifetime for long-time practitioners, as well as those who would simply like to have some taste of the joy of Chan.
