A good wish for the world

DDM's spring couplet for this year is "A good wish for the world”, which was also late Master Sheng Yen's blessings and exhortation for the current society made in 2008. With prevailed restlessness in the society back then, DDM initiated a movement of “A good wish for the world”which was originally derived from the ideals of“protecting the spiritual environment.” In the movement, DDM invited the public to make a wish, do a good deed, and bring together good fortune to the world. It is in the hope that everyone can have the purified mind, so we can further harmonize our society.

Blessings through practicing the six paramitas and myriad good deeds

Practice of precepts, concentration, and wisdom can both benefit ourselves and other people. This is the blessings brought about by Buddhist practice.

The true meaning of a practical life

To live a practical life is to cherish our life in the here and now, treasuring the time and environment we have and using them wisely, such as reciting the Buddha's name, doing good deeds, spreading the Buddhadharma, taking part in volunteer work, engaging in social service, and showing concern for people in general. While it is important to work when it's time to work, we should also rest when it's time to rest and relax when it's time to relax.

What does sharing others' joy actually mean

Rejoice in others' merit, one of the ten great vows of Samantabhadra, is rejoicing in other people's good deeds and good qualities or taking part in someone else's meritorious deeds. No matter what situation we are in and what position and status we have, we can help people at any opportunity, by using our mental and physical effort, financial resources, influence, and social status.

Speaking kind words and doing good deeds to strangers

Maintaining peace and showing respect fosters friendships. We should pay close attention to where our friendships stand and address our friends properly.

How do we speak kindly to and do good deeds for friends?

Maintaining a friendship requires integrity and wisdom, with which we can then truly support and benefit each other.
