How to overcome deluded thoughts?

It would be impossible for most people not to have wandering thoughts. It is fine as long as we recognize and be aware of our wandering thoughts. With spiritual practice, such as repentance prostration, reciting sutras or the Buddha's name or mantras, and sitting meditation, we can train ourselves to calm and purify our minds, and thereby naturally reducing our distracting or wandering thoughts.

Wandering thoughts and fundamental vexations

The 6 fundamental vexations - craving, aversion, delusion, arrogance, doubt, and wrong views-obstruct our wisdom, and hurt ourselves and others. Greedy people always crave more, as a result, are afflicted.

We should be constantly aware of our arising thoughts

Practice means mending our ways. We should constantly observe, examine and train our mind to develop it toward the wholesome.

Eliminating ignorance by transforming thoughts

To stop our negative inclinations, we should constantly observe our thoughts and emotions, and stop and correct the negative. Then the volitional action will wane.
