The lecture series will discuss the rise of the Bodhisattva in Buddhism, the nature and purpose of a Bodhisattva. Particular Bodhisattvas will be highlighted and what they stand for. We never really seem to get taught this important aspect of Chan Buddhism. We cover individual Bodhisattvas but run into them by study of a particular Sutra. This lecture series is designed to give us the basics. It is essential for new practitioners and vital to the journey person's practice to fill in the details.
Gilbert GutierrezGilbert Gutierrez has over thirty-nine years of meditation experience, which includes his study of various martial arts as well as Chi Gong. In 2002, he received Dharma Transmission from Chan Master Sheng Yen. He is the founder of the Riverside Chan Meditation Group. He conducts retreats and lectures throughout North America. Gilbert teaches in a classical Chan style which inspires his students to investigate Chan through diligent practice.
