Winners of 2016 Dharma Drum Mountain Caring for Life Award

The panel of eight judges for the final review included: Ven. Guo Dong, abbot president of DDM; Qian Fu (Frederick Chien), president of Cathay Charity Foundation; Li Hongyuan, former Minister of the Interior; Chen Ailing, executive director of Fubon Cultural and Educational Foundation; Chen Wuxiong, former Minister of Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan; Chen Weizhao, former principal of National Taiwan University; Huang Shicheng, president of Taiwan Heritage Foundation; and Wu Nianzhen, a well-known film director. Qian Fu was elected as convener for the panel.

For the Award’s Individual Prize of Wisdom and Individual Prize of Compassion, 12 persons entered the final selection, while 10 organizations were selected as the final candidates for the Group Prize of Great Vow. After careful review and evaluation by the judges, the Group Prize of Great Vow went to Spinal Cord Injury Foundation, while Zhuang Fuhua won the Individual Prize of Wisdom and Que-Dai Shuwei the Individual Prize of Compassion.

Initiated by Dharma Drum Mountain Humanities and Social Improvement Foundation in 2007, the Caring for Life Award advocates valuing and cherishing life. By sharing true stories of its winners, the Award hopes to inspire afflicted people to embrace reality with courage and recognize their personal values, thereby realizing the beauty of life.

The Award ceremony for the individual and group winners will be held at the Guo Guang Hall of Chinese Petroleum Corporation Building, Taipei City, on September 24. All members of the public are welcome to attend the ceremony. For more information please visit our website at: http://ddmhsif.org.
