High school teachers from Life Education Resource Center visit the DDM World Center to acquaint with Life Education in Buddhism

Thirty-two teachers from the Life Education Resource Center visited Dharma Drum Mountain World Center for Buddhist Education in Jinshan Township for a two-day Life Education and the Purification of the Mind program from 9 to 10 April 2009.

The teachers were headed by the Director of Life Education Resource Center, Mr. You Wencong. The two-day program enabled the teachers to experience monastic life in the Center, to learn the idea of "Protecting the Spiritual Environment" and to understand DDM's progress of promoting the life education programs in society. These teachers are the foundation of delivering the life education curriculum in senior high schools.

Venerables of the DDM Sangha community stressed the significance of compassion and wisdom. Venerable Guo Chuan led the teachers to understand the idea of "Protecting Spiritual Environment" and to acquaint them with the active-and-dedicated perspective towards life in Buddhism.

While touching on the issue of feeling lost in life, Venerable Chang Fa reminded the teachers to apply Venerable Master Sheng Yen’s the "Six Ethics of the Mind" to deal with difficulties and to promote positive power in society, in the family and within the self.

Venerable Guo Guang, Venerable Guo Qi, Venerable Guo Yi, Venerable Guo Zhao and Venerable Guo Zhi of DDM Sangha University joined the discussion with the teachers to exchange opinions, and applied the "108 Adages of Wisdom" of Venerable Master Sheng Yen to interpret the Dharma. They also encouraged the teachers to participate in Chan-related activities arranged by the DDM in the future.

On the last day, the Abbot President, Venerable Guo Dong, expressed his warmest blessing to the teachers and again encouraged them to dedicate themselves to education always with the biggest compassion and gratitude within.
