The Republic of China’s (Taiwan) Premier Yi-Huah Jiang and his wife Mrs. Shu-Zhen Lee visited Dharma Drum Mountain World Center for Buddhist Education on the afternoon of 16 March 2013, in remembrance of the late Venerable Master Sheng Yen.
On 9 March 2013, Dharma Drum Sangha University (DDSC) signed a memorandum with the Haeinsa Temple in South Korea to promote academic collaboration.
The Dharma Drum Sangha University (DDSU) held the Tenth Awakening Camp at the DDM World Center for Buddhist Education. The 9-day camp started on 29 January, 2013, attracting a total of 194 young people from Taiwan as well as other countries.
On the afternoon of 19 December 2012, Dharma Drum Buddhist College (DDBC) held a special lecture, titled ‘Experience of Trauma Resiliency at Fukushima’, where Dr. Tetsunori Koizumi and Dr. Hisako Koizumi, were invited to share their experiences on post-traumatic spiritual recovery after the Fukushima accident that occurred on 11 March 2011.
On the afternoon of 13 January 2013, 64 couples, receiving blessings from the DDM Sangha, tied the lifelong knot and took oaths in the Grand Buddha Hall of the DDM World Center for Buddhist Education. Couples from South Korea, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Great Britain, and Mainland China participated in the joint Buddhist wedding ceremony.
On the afternoon of 9 January 2013, students of the Dharma Drum Buddhist College (DDBC) went to an aged care facility in the Wanli District of New Taipei City to visit and offer residents at the home DDM Sangha blessing for 2013.
The President of Dharma Drum Buddhist College (DDBC), Venerable Hui Min and President of Dharma Drum Mountain Community University Mr. Chi-Chuan Tseng, signed the humanistic lecture accord on behalf of Dharma Drum Mountain (DDM) with Peking University on the 7th November 2012.
On the morning of 15 December 2012, the Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation (DDMSWCF) held the End-of-Year philanthropic party at the DDM World Center for Buddhist Education. More than 600 residents of Shanzhi, Shimen, Wanli and Jinshan attended the event to celebrate and nurture compassion.
In the afternoon of the 1st of December 2012, the 8-day Great Compassion Water and Land Dharma Service which took place at the DDM World Center for Buddhist Education was drawn to an end with dignities, and with compassionate vows made by thousands of devotees whilst wholeheartedly chanting the holy name ‘Nanmo Amitoufo’ in the Grand Buddha Hall.
Master Pa Auk Sayadaw visited the Dharma Drum Buddhist College (DDBC) on 13 November 2012, giving a speech and conducting an exchange of Chan practice at the institution.
