Students from Jiaxian show their compassion for tsunami victims in Japan

As a gesture of compassion and care to those who suffered from the deadly tsunami in northern Japan, twenty students from Jiaxian Primary School wrote down their words of encouragement on hand-made postcards.

Volunteers of the Peace of Mind Relief Station in Jiaxian Township of Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation (DDMSWCF) planned this event for students to nurture compassion as well as to show their concern for tsunami victims in Japan.

Volunteers said that many of the students were also victims, having suffered from Typhoon Morakot that occurred in August 2009, which brought terrible loss of life and property in southern Taiwan. Several of them had lost their beloved families and classmates.

Volunteers believed the activity would help students cultivate more compassion and would contribute to the healing of the pain the students have carried since Typhoon Morakot.
