Secretary of Anxian’s Party Committee Visits DDM and Expresses Gratitude
On the morning of 10 June, 2010, the Secretary of Anxian’s Party Committee of Mianyang City in northern Sichuan, Mr. Li Wang, led a ten-member delegation to pay their first visit to the Dharma Drum Mountain World Center for Buddhist Education in the Jinshan Township of Taipei County.
According to Secretary Wang, the visit aimed to express gratitude to the DDM Sangha Community that had compassionately upheld the construction of the First Primary School and the Medical Care Center in the Xiushui Township of Anxian , Mianyang City, leading to the successful inauguration of those two institutions on 3 June, 2010.
Abbot President of DDM, Venerable Guo Dong, Deputy Abbot, Venerable Guo Pin, Secretary General of Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation (DDMSWCF), Venerable Guo Qi, and other members who were involved in DDM’s post-disaster reconstruction projects in northern Sichuan, were all present to welcome the Anxian delegation.
The Abbot President warmly welcomed the arrival of Anxian’s delegation and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the assistance from both the Anxian Government and the Mianyang Government, as well as to others who had contributed to the post-disaster reconstruction projects in Sichuan.
The Abbot President added that DDM will continue to work on the post-disaster reconstruction projects, especially on providing spiritual care to those suffering from post-disaster trauma, helping Anxian’s residents to walk out of misery soon.
Secretary of Anxian’s Party Committee, Mr. Li Wang, said that he wanted to express his warmest gratitude to DDM on behalf of Anxian’s residents. He said that without DDM’s long term and compassionate contributions, Anxian’s residents could not return so quickly to the normal life they had previously led. He also added that there are now more people in Anxian who are emulating DDM’s Bodhisattva spirit by helping disadvantaged people as volunteers.
The visit concluded with gift exchanges and a tour of the Center.
