Typhoon Krosa caused heartbreaking disasters when it passed through Taiwan on 6 and 7 October 2007.

The city of Jakarta has recently experienced its worst flood in five years. The damaging flood was caused by days of heavy rainfall, inundating rivers around the Jakarta area.
The Ganges-Brahmaputra river system in Bangladesh is the largest river delta in the world, and most of the country has been formed over the river system's sediment plain. This unique geographic feature is prone to regular flooding, making life, especially for poor people, susceptible to the effects of natural disasters.

In the evening of 24 June 2007, a tour bus carrying 35 passengers veered off the road and rolled down the side of a 50-meter deep ravine on Yangmin Mountain (Yangminshan), north of Taipei, killing at least eight people and injuring twenty five others.
Three people were killed and three others injured in northern Keelung County on the morning of 8 June, 2007 due to mudslides and landslides caused by heavy rains over the past week.

Two years ago, the entirely unexpected South Asian tsunami took away countless lives and destroyed many homes. In its aftermath, disaster relief organizations from all over the globe arrived and joined forces in Sri Lanka, exercising the compassion and wisdom of all humanity.
On 15 August, 2007, a deadly earthquake measuring 7.9 on the Richter scale struck Southern Peru, it followed with an aftershock of 5.7 in magnitude hitting the same region on 19 August. Within the next five days after the initial earthquake struck Peru, over 500 aftershocks were felt. The disaster has claimed over 500 lives, injuring more than 1,600 people and leaving tens of thousands of people homeless.
It has already been a month since arriving in Sri Lanka. It is a lot harder to maintain the commitment than I initially thought. The Eight-Form Moving Meditation has become my sole daily exercise and the game of counting stars in the sky has also become my exclusive interest. I always fall asleep in the midst of insect sounds to be waken up by singing birds. I really want to say with the rising sun, "Good Morning! Sri Lanka."
Dharma Drum Mountain's relief team successfully completed their six-day humanitarian operation in offering aid to quake-affected victims in Peru, with up to 1,600 households (more than 5,000 victims) receiving both material and spiritual benefits.
