Transmitting the Light of Wisdom & Compassion in DDM Sydney

The event ‘Transmitting the Light of Wisdom and Compassion’ held in memory of Master Sheng Yen at DDM Sydney’s new practice centre in Hornsby on 13 February 2011 marked the beginning of a new chapter.

In considering the importance of practice, DDM Sydney incorporated the practice of mindfulness and awareness by staying in the present moment and shared it with guests and members through the process of making and drinking tea.

Of particular significance on the day is the fulfilment of vows by Mr & Mrs Alex Wu who have always wished to promote Shifu’s ideal of “Protecting the Spiritual Environment”. After many consultations over a few years, they have donated the present venue for our use, as our DDM home in Sydney.

We also witnessed the fulfilment of vows by Mr & Mrs Albert Auyeung. Not only did they freely offer their professional advice, but they also met the cost of the centre’s first stage of renovation and ensured that it was completed in time for the event.

With a deep sense of gratitude, members and guests lit and passed the candles, and made their own vows and New Year resolutions before the altar. DDM Sydney will continue to carry on Shifu’s work and promote the idea of “Uplifting the character of humanity and building a Pure Land on earth”.
