Nung Chan Monastery and Chung-Hwa Institute of Buddhist Studies Earn Credits from Taipei City Government
On the afternoon of 31 August 2011, both Nung Chan Monastery and Chung-Hwa Institute of Buddhist Studies were credited by Taipei City Government for their long-term humanitarian efforts towards the disadvantaged.
The award ceremony was held at the International Convention Center of National Taiwan University Hospital in Taipei City and chaired by Taipei’s Vice Mayor, Dr. Ting-Yu Ding.
Venerable Chang Ying and Venerable Jian Xin were present at the ceremony to receive the honors on behalf of Nung Chan Monastery and the Chung-Hwa Institute of Buddhist Studies.
Vice Mayor Ding said that he was grateful and touched by the long-term dedication to social charities made by Taiwan’s non-profit organizations. Taiwan’s society could not be better off without these compassionate NGOs, the vice mayor said.
In addition to Nung Chan Monastery and the Chung-Hwa Institute of Buddhist Studies, 45 other non-profit organizations were also awarded credits.
