DDM Anhe Branch Hosts Bathing of the Buddha Ceremony and Dharma Assembly
On the morning of 26 May 2013, the Anhe Branch of Dharma Drum Mountain in Taipei City hosted a Bathing of the Buddha Ceremony and a Dharma Assembly in celebration of Vesak Day, a day of great significance to Buddhists as we celebrate the birth, enlightenment and passing away of the Buddha.
The ceremony of bathing the Buddha symbolizes the opportunity to cleanse away our anger, greed and ignorance and purify our hearts and minds.
The event attracted over 500 attendees, including many over-65-year old seniors of the community that were specially invited to celebrate the Buddha’s birthday and have the opportunity to listen to and enjoy the Buddha’s wisdom together.
The director of DDM’s Anhe Branch, Venerable Guo Tsai, gave an introduction to the significance of Vesak Day and then encouraged everyone to follow in the Buddha’s footsteps to uphold the Dharma by purifying the mind and cultivating good merits.
