The Water and Land Dharma Service is the biggest dharma service event in Chinese Buddhism. Dharma Drum Mountain will be organizing The Great Compassion Water and Land Dharma Service from December 6 through 13, 2014; applications for certain individual altar positions will be open to the public from October 11, 2014. In addition, DDM is utilizing digital memorial tablets as well as cloud computing system for the chanting sessions to reflect on its environmental protection policy; with immediate effect, those interested to serve as volunteers for this event can sign up with the DDM Volunteers Room.

On 15 January 2011, 72 couples gathered in the Grand Buddha Hall of the Dharma Drum Mountain World Center for Buddhist Education, Jinshan District of New Taipei City to exchange wedding vows and commit to starting their new families based on Buddhist principles and guidelines.
The first sign of hope in 2011 silently repelled the darkness of the chilly winter in 2010, bringing afresh brightness and energy to everyone. On 25 December 2010, Zhaiming Monastery in Taoyuan held the 2010 End-of-Year Philanthropic Party for disadvantaged families living in the neighboring districts of Daxi, Zhongli and Xinchu. More than one thousand people attended the party and received blessings from Zhaiming’s monastics.
On the afternoon of 11 December, 2010, nearly 1,000 people gathered at Nung Chan Monastery in Taipei for the joyful 2010 Year-End Philanthropy Party of Dharma Drum Mountain.
On 22 December 2010, volunteers from the Hualien Branch Office of Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation, together with students from Hualien Commercial High School, paid a compassionate visit to a nursing home at Jian Township of Hualien County.
The 8-day Fourth Great Compassion Water and Land Service at Dharma Drum Mountain World Center for Buddhist Education in Jinshan Township of Taipei County marked its successful end on 5 December 2010, following the Dharma ritual of ‘Sending Off the Holy Ones’.
Upon the end of a five-year relief plan in 2009 initiated in Aceh Province of Indonesia for the care of tsunami-afflicted people (which included the construction of orphanages, campuses, activity centers and kindergartens), the Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation mapped out a new two-year subsidy project to provide continued support for poor students in Aceh who have suffered from the 2004 deadly tsunami.
Vice Abbot President of Dharma Drum Mountain, Venerable Guo Pin, went to Sichuan, China from 18 to 22 October, 2010, to initiate the fourth award of stipends for disadvantaged students.
On 5 December, 2010, Vice Mayor of Mianyang City, Sichuan, Mr. Qi Zhao, and 19 other members visited the Dharma Drum Mountain World Center for Buddhist Education in Jinshan Township of Taipei County.
